Better Call Saul is a prequel to Breaking Bad, and follows Saul Goodman — one of the most colorful characters from the saga of Walter White — as he evolves from being a struggling lawyer into the bottom feeder we grew to love. As it’s a massively popular show, we figured we’d help people out by showing you how to watch Better Call Saul online.

Saul Goodman’s real name is Jimmy McGill, and he was once very different to the smooth-talking, ethically flexible semi-criminal portrayed in Breaking Bad. When Better Call Saul first opens, his office is in the back of a nail salon, he has virtually no clients and he spends most of his days taking care of his sick brother, a partner at a topflight law firm.

Jimmy has decided to put his past as a con man behind him and make an earnest go of it as a lawyer standing up for the little guy, but circumstances conspire against him — as does his own character — and slowly, but surely, he is transformed into Saul Goodman.

Better Call Saul is as much a character study as Breaking Bad was, and we definitely recommend it for anybody that likes deep drama. However, whatever you do, don’t watch it before Breaking Bad or you’ll ruin that show — seriously. We have a guide on how to watch Breaking Bad, so check that out first before watching Better Call Saul.

How to Watch Better Call Saul Online

So far, four seasons of Better Call Saul have aired on its home network of AMC, with Better Call Saul season 5 slated for 2020. As AMC doesn’t have a streaming network of its own like, say, Showtime does (check out our how to watch Billions guide for one excellent show on that network), Better Call Saul can be found in its entirety on Netflix.

Much like another AMC show, Mad Men, as far as we can tell every single country’s Netflix carries all of Better Call Saul, meaning all you need is a Netflix subscription and you’re good to go.

Depending on your location, Netflix can cost as little as $10 per month and opens up a huge world of entertainment; we recommend it to anybody, especially as you get the first 30 days for free.

However, if you’re in a country that we didn’t check and you don’t have Better Call Saul in your library, you’re going to have to use a virtual private network to pretend like you’re somewhere else that does carry the adventures of Jimmy McGill. In short, a VPN will hide your IP address and let you appear as if you’re somewhere else, which is pretty handy.

However, you can’t just use any ol’ VPN to access Netflix in another country. We go over the reasons why in our in-depth piece on the Netflix VPN ban, but the upshot is that only a handful of VPN services can reliably get through to Netflix.

Check out our best VPN for Netflix piece for the cream of the crop, though if you’re not the reading type, you can jump straight to the site of our winner, ExpressVPN.

How to Watch Better Call Saul for Free

When it comes to legal streaming, Netflix is your best bet to watch Better Call Saul by a country mile. However, the internet wouldn’t be the internet if there weren’t a ton of more morally ambiguous ways of catching the making of a character as morally ambiguous as Saul Goodman.

Really, think of what Saul would do.

When it comes to dodgy streaming sites, you can take your pick, but over the years we’ve found that PutLocker is the most reliable — or maybe the least unreliable — of its ilk out there. A quick check shows that it has Better Call Saul season 1 through 4 there, and in good order, too.

However, unless you really like being bombarded with ads for porn, gambling and other things best enjoyed in privacy, we recommend you install one of the best pop-up blockers when visiting PutLocker or any site like it. Also, while you’re at it, having one of the best antivirus solutions running in the background won’t hurt, either. We really like Bitdefender, so check it out.

How to Watch Better Call Saul on Kodi

A final streaming option is Kodi, which, if you’ve never heard of it, is a media platform that was once developed for Xbox but is now available on pretty much every device out there. You could probably run it on your car’s OS, if you wanted to.

If you’d like to know more about how Kodi works, check out our full Kodi guide, but it boils down to installing it, then negotiating your way through the best Kodi repositories — and some of the worst ones — to find the add-on that has the show you want.

We found Better Call Saul on the Poseidon add-on, which can be found under the Kodil repo. However, using Kodi to watch copyrighted content is technically illegal, so we recommend you have one of our best VPN for Kodi picks engaged when going this route.

Better Call Saul Torrents

The last option to watch Better Call Saul that we’ll discuss in this article is torrenting. Its upside is that you’ll be able to actually have copies of the show in your possession, without having to rely on unreliable streaming sites.

However, its downside is that torrenting is probably the most heavily monitored way of catching your favorite entertainment. Torrenting without having a VPN enabled is just asking for trouble.

We found all seasons of Better Call Saul on The Pirate Bay, though as usual we won’t vouch for the quality. However, we recognize some of the uploaders’ handles, so you should be alright.

Before you even venture onto The Pirate Bay or alternative torrent sites, we recommend that you check out our article on the best VPN for torrenting so you can keep yourself safe. If you want to skip the reading assignment, we’re big fans of NordVPN when it comes to P2P file sharing, so you can check out the service using its 30-day refund period.

Final Thoughts

Better Call Saul is one of the more intriguing shows out there today, as it’s one of the few that shows how a character can be molded by their circumstances, even if they mean not to be. In some ways it’s even more powerful than Breaking Bad in this regard, though it lacks its parent show’s explosivity.
