How Do I Delete My Dropbox Account?

Before you delete your Dropbox account, you will first need to unsubscribe from your paid plan. If you are already using the free Dropbox Basic plan, you can skip to the last paragraph of this section. Otherwise, keep reading to get started.

Start by going to Dropbox.com and logging in to your account. Click on your profile or the circle at the top-right corner of the page. From the dropdown tertiary menu, click “settings” and navigate to the “plan” tab. Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “cancel plan.”

Clicking the “cancel plan” button will take you to the downgrade page. Scroll to the bottom where you have the options to contact Dropbox support, change your plan or downgrade. The downgrade button looks grayed out, but go ahead and click “I still want to downgrade.”

This page will prompt you to select a reason why you want to cancel your plan. You can’t skip this step, so select the reason why you’re canceling and then click “continue” to move on.

The next page is a summary of everything that you will be losing by canceling your Dropbox plan. Scroll to the bottom and click “I still want to downgrade.” You will then be taken back to your home page.

Now that you’ve canceled your plan, you can delete your account. Navigate back to the settings and scroll to the bottom of the page, then click the “delete account” button. You will have to input your password and give a reason for leaving before clicking “permanently delete.” You will be logged out of the Dropbox client and immediately taken to the signup page.

  1. Click your profile picture or the grey circle in the top-right of the screen.
  2. Click “settings” in the dropdown menu (if you have a free account, skip to step 10)
  3. Click the “plan” tab
  4. Click “cancel plan”
  5. Click “I want to downgrade”
  6. Pick a reason for downgrading
  7. Click “continue”
  8. Click “I still want to downgrade”
  9. Navigate back to general settings tab
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  11. Click “delete account”
  12. Input your password and select a reason for leaving
  13. Click “permanently delete”


How Do I Uninstall Dropbox From My Computer?

Uninstalling the Dropbox client from your Windows computer is a much quicker task. From your computer’s start menu or Windows button, click the gear icon. This will take you to the settings menu.

Once in the settings, click “apps” and then scroll to Dropbox. Click “uninstall” and then click “uninstall” on the pop-up.

From here, the Dropbox installation wizard will pop up, and you can click “uninstall” to remove the client from your PC. The Dropbox folder will still be on your computer, so as a final step, make sure that you remove the folder and any files that you don’t want.
